Consider Lunar Indication of the Sabbath Day

The Seventh Biblical Month is perhaps the greatest opportunity for Yisreal to uncover a huge conflict of schedules biblical vs Gregorian and discover a new way of seeing The Wondrous Works of a Mighty Great YAH. Let us take a look at just how well the Seventh Biblical Month helped me to completely embrace and desire to return to the Traditional Ancient Way of observing Shabbat according to the very same Hebrew Calendar we observe all of our Set Apart Appointments with Yahuwah.

Yom Teruah is set for Festival / Memorial Day 1 of the 7th month. Yom Kippurim is a Set Apart Atonement Day set specifically to begin sundown following the 9th day to sundown following the 10th day (which is the 10th day of of the 7th month). So let me ask, "Which day between these two dates (the 1st day and the 10th day) did the Shabbat fall for Patriarchs such as Moshe or Joshua?

Some would say the 7th day from Yom Teruah. My reply would be as follows. If that is true, then please tell me how could Yom Kippurim in our day (the 10th day of the biblical month) ever fall upon a Shabbat? Why would it be different for Moshe than it would be for us today?

A modern day Torah scholar would say, "Well the Shabbat and the Feast days do not follow the same calendar". Rellay if that is so why did YAH not mentioned it once in Leviticus 23?; Is YAH an author of confusion?"; "Would YAH used two different calendars to completely confuse the Israelites? "Did such a term as Saturday or a Sunday even exist during the days of Moshe, Joshua, David?"

The fact is very clear that the very same Calendar used to determine the Feast days truly is the very same calendar use to determine our Sabbath days and every single other date that YAH refers to in scriptures? Now let us see what I am speaking of and how it works out for the 7th month.

Yom Teruah is the New Moon Day of the 7th month. Well according to our Hebrew Scriptures, we do not work on The New Moon Day. Yet, YAH commands us to work 6 days and Rest on the 7th Day. Therefore, when each New Moon arrives, we bring forth offerings and Israel did not work the fields or their farms on The New Moon Day. Lots of proof of this is in our Scriptures.

Ezekiel 46:1 establishes that there are three different types of days: New Moon Days; Work Days; Sabbath Days

"Thus says the Eternal Yahuwah: “The gateway of the inner court that faces toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the abbath it shall be opened, and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.” (See Ezekiel 46:1.)

Thus, the New Moon Day and was not counted by YAH as a regular working day. Therefore, on Day 2 - the day following The New Moon Day - we start our first working day and on Day 3 is our second working day, Day 4 is our 3rd working day; Day 5 is our 4th working day,  Day 6 is our 5th working day and we finally get to day 7 which is our 6th working day.

"Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings". (Leviticus 23:3)

Torah says 6 days you MUST work but on the 7th day, you are to rest. As a result, Day 8 is the very first Sabbath day of every single biblical month. The Sabbath actually concludes the concept of a week.

Shavua Tov is offered on Day 9 because it begins the first working day of the second week of every single biblical month.

Yes, Day 9 of each month begins the first work day of the second week of the month. Day 10 the second work day; and so on to Day 14, the 6th work day and what is day 15? Yes, it is the 7th day which is our second Sabbath Day of the week. Our second week of the month is now concluded. This very simple pattern repeats itself two more times during each biblical month.

Day 16 is the first work day of the third week..... right to Day 21 being the 6th work day of the week and yes you are correct, Day 22 is the 7th day of the third week and thus Day 22 is our Sabbath day.

Day 23 is the first work day of the fourth week... right up to day 28 our 6th work day of the fourth week of the month and now Day 29th is the 7th day and a day of rest... it is the Shabbat of the fourth week... and the week is concluded... at this time, Israel is looking out for the very next New Moon which sages calculated as 29.6 days

Time to Reflect wearing these new lenses:

For all first timers wearing these lunar based Sabbath lenses, some will say this is completely lunacy. I completely understand and say to you that this would be a good place for you to end this blog because it gets deeper with LUNARcy. For those who sees something in the rythymn of this but still say this is too much to make sense of, please hold on and let me try to tie some knots here. I too recall when first trying to digest this; I did not until nearly ten years later. Well, lets go to the next stage on this lesson.

Ok now according to using The Moon Day as a means of determining our Sabbath based on Abba's own signs, there will be four Sabbaths in every month of YAH but in the 7th month and let us see if this changes.

The New Moon Day is not truly a Sabbath Day but for the most part all New Moon Days are treated similar to the Sabbath in that Israel did not work on the New Moon Day. Yah commands us to come before Him every New Moon Day and every Sabbath Day but we learned in this blog that it is the New Moon Day that begins each and every month of Abba which is not part of His working days. Amos 8:5 attests to this as well as the above scripture from Ezekiel 46.

5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

Also,. 2 Chronicles 2:4 lets us see that the New Moon Day could not possibly be a regular working day:

Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

Now the New Moon Day of the 7th month is declared by Yah to be a special New Moon Day unlike the others. Some may refer to it as a High Sabbath. Yah gave this New Moon Day the titlel, Yom Teruah - Feast of Blastings or Trumpets. The notion of Rosh HaShannah is completely man made day but that is for another discussion at a later blog. The Karaite Jews did an excellent teaching on the error of Rosh haShannah for those interested, may

Google such articles. Our first day of the 7th Month is exactly what Abba calls it, Yom Teruah. Now back to our Ancient Sabbath tradition.

Based on the Ancient Sabbath Practice, the Sabbaths of the 7th Month are as follows: The 8th Day, The 15th day, the 22nd day and the 29th day of the Biblical or Hebrew Month. This is where we must take time to make Hebraic sense of what has happened. If Yah had only ONE METHOD in Leviticus 23 to calculate His Appointments which in each case were indicated by a number (1st day or 7th day or 10th day or 15th day, etc., then how is it possible that the 10th day of any month could ever fall on the same day as 7th day of the month which would be the expected Sabbath day by most people? Their is a huge conflict with such understanding for all of us who know Abba YAH made it plain that the Moon and the Sun are His Signs for His Appointment days.

"And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years". (Gen.1:14) The root meaning of the word season is the Hebrew word "moade or moadim", it means "an appointed time, a festival.

Yom Kippurim was on the 10th day (which should always chronologically fall between the two Sabbath days and could never fall on a Sabbath, since Yom Kippur is to be observed 10 days after the New Moon Day which naturally makes the first Sabbath of the month to always precede it. Now it was this conflct that got my attention to listen to how the Sabbath is based on the New Moon Day.

Chag Sukkot brought it home for me... When does it open? the 15th day of the 7th month... which is a Full Moon day and according to our counting, it is a also Sabbath Day. Just like the New Moon of the 7th month was selected to be a very special New Moon Set Apart Day for Israel... So is the second and third Sabbaths of the 7th month, selected by YAH to be very Special Sabbaths of the month.

The 22nd Day of the month is always a Sabbath Day but the 22nd Day of 7th month is a special Sabbath Day. It is the Great 8th Day of the Sukkot Festival and it is the closing of Sukkot on that Sabbath Day. Even 2Chronicles show that it was the 23rd day of the 7th month that those who came to dedicate the Temple of YAH began dispersing in their own ways. Indeed Israel, observed the first day of the 7th Month as they would, the first day of all months, except this one will be a special Feast Day. Then Israel would work for 6 days as they do every single biblical month and on Day 8 which is the 7th day after the New Moon Day, they REST. for the Sabbath Day.

So for those who could follow this teaching, you can now see that for every biblical month there are 4 Sabbaths (8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th day of each month) and this even includes the 7th month where we are commanded to assemble before YAH for four Set Apart Appointments. You will now see that Sukkot actually opens and closes on what is already known by Israel to be their Sabbath Days.

As for Yom Teruah, every New Moon is treated similar to a Sabbath. However, as for Yom Kippruim, being even more than a Sabbath Day. Yom Kippurim is a very special Set Apart day of absolutely no working like a Sabbath Day but also a day of afflicking our souls - absolutely no eating or drinking unlike a Sabbath Day. Therefore, it is actually only Yom Kippurim that required our Ancient Fathers and Mothers to go before YAHUAH an additional day in that month, because the New Moon Day and the Sabbaths of 15th and 22nd day were already established times to see YAH.

The Amazing Signs of YAHUWAH

What is so amazing about learning about YAH's WAY of counting for every single one of His Feast Days and Shabbats and New Moon Days is that all our Patriarchs really had to do is look up at the sky at nightfall to determine their coming Shabbat Day or Feast Day because ALL OF HIS APPOINTED TIMES LISTED IN LEVITICUS 23 ARE ALIGNED WITH ABBA'S LUNAR SETTING. What do I mean by that?

*Well on the 8th day of the month (the first Shabbat of every month), there is a quarter moon waxing

*and by the next Shabbat, the 15th day, there is a Full Moon - fully waxed with light

*and by the 22nd day of the month, the moon is quarter moon again but this time it is waning (losing its light)

*and by the 29th it is nearly fully darkened.

WOW, Our YAH is so AWESOME...

Yes, this is a 7th day cycle for those who are confused...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Still want more evidence on this?
Ok what got me fully on board with understanding the Moon as a sign for both our Sabbaths as well as our Feast Days is that are our Feast Days also fall on the established Sabbath Days.
As we know Pesach is at eve of the 14th day according to Leviticus 23: as some say but the 14th day is Preparation Day for Pesach... when is The Feast of Pesach? It is on the 14th Day at eve... why do YAH share it that way because He wants us to do Pesach when the 15th comes in at Sunset which is the 14th at eve...
Remember Yom Kippurim, it too begins at the 9th day at evening. So, when do we begin our fast? Answer, when the 10th day arrives at its onset in the evening... aka the 9th day at eve.
So yes Pesach is always done on the Full Moon - the 15th day and Unleavened Bread likewise but it begins at day light even though we do not eat leaven for either Feasts. What I found interesting about The Feast of Unleavened Bread is that it ends immediately before the next Lunar Sabbath which would be Abib 22.
When is The Feast of Shabuoth? There is confusion about counting Gregorian calendar Sabbaths but interesting how the Jewish sages did not allow us to get it twisted with the Gregorian Calendar Sabbaths but for this count, they made sure we began our count on the 16th day of Abib (knowing the 15th day was indeed a Sabbath day) so that on the 8th day of Sivan or the third month, Shabuoth is observed... now when is the first Shabbat of the third month according to the New Moon Day? Yes, indeed, it is on The 8th Day - the very same day; the first Sabbath of the third month.
We already knw that the Fall Feast Days of Yom Teruah is a New Moon Day and that The Feast of Sukkot open and closes on the Sabbath Days of the 15h day and the 22nd day of the seventh Month and that it is only Yom Kippurim that does not fall on the Sabbath Day. It is not surprising because Yom Kippurim is surely a very important practice day to meet our Most High Elohim.
End Note:
Most Hebrews are not aware of this information on the Sabbaths and therefore, are counting Gregorian Sabbath for their start of the count and this is the only area of confusion between them and the Talmud which already accounted for this issue because it was Hillell II who changed from the Lunar calculating of the Sabbath days to following the Gregorian Saturday calendar only for the Sabbath Days but he continued of course to use the Hebrew Calendar which is based on the New Moon Day for all of the other Set Apart Appointments with YHWH. Now you tell me, did Moshe or Joshua know anything at all about teaching Saturdays and Gregorian calendars to Israel? Of Course not, so on this I rest my case.
 Just look at how our Patriarchs selected our Set Apart Sabbaths to do what they did.
2 Chronicles 29:17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
